President Park Geun-hye on Friday met with the deans of women's universities and stressed the role of women in education.

In the meeting with seven university deans, she called on women's universities to nurture female talent and instill the right mind and values to growing children.

She said that teaching imparted by women as mothers and teachers begins at home and wields strong influence.

Citing the expression "womenomics," the president said that the expanding role and social activities of women are essential to national development.

She said that the leadership of women is growing worldwide and that women can take on many roles with their unique qualities.

Park said a new program will be set up next year aimed at fostering female engineers in order to support more girls in the science and engineering field.

She also promised continued effort to promote a social atmosphere of encouraging female employment and to prevent discontinued careers for women.
