The Directorate of Information TechnologyGovernment of Maharashtra, the second most populous Indian state with a population of 112 million, has released four mobile applications for citizens.

1. Maharashtra Government Resolutions

Citizens can now easily search and retrieve any government resolution. Connecting to the Government’s main web site though the app, users can search by department, keywords, date range or unique code of the resolution.

Besides viewing the documents, users can also download and save the resolution asPDF files.

The app also notifies users of any new resolutions since their last login.

2. MahaNews

Instead of visiting the Government’s official news web site, citizens can now get the latest news on the go.

The app shows real-time updates in a mobile-optimised layout with photographs, including the day-to-day activities of the Government and its leaders, district-related news, and job opportunities in the public sector.

Users can share interesting news with their social networks - including Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, etc - directly via the application.

3. Lokrajya Magazine

The Government has digitised and made available on mobile one of the most read and longest running local publication, the Lokrajya Magazine.

The magazine’s audience include civil servants, local government and district workers, Union Public Service Commission students, rural schools and colleges.

Through the app, users can view, save and share any issue, as well as highlight sections and make notes on the document.

4. Accessible Places

Using crowd sourcing technology, the app allows users to find disabled-friendly places in the State. Users can search easily by categories such as banks, ATMs, libraries, hospitals, schools, parking, restaurants and parks.

Besides searching, users can also contribute to the data by adding new places and uploading photographs.
