China to Monitor Public Service Vehicles

The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has asked local authorities to identify and trace public service vehicles using GPS devices and special markings in an effort to prevent corruption, Beijing Times reports.

The commission made the decision following suggestions submitted to the National People's Congress last March by an NPC member in south China's Guangdong province.

The new system should monitor all public service vehicles in order to prevent them from being used for private purposes.

Some provinces and regions in China have already started the monitoring system which has effectively reduced expenses.

The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection will establish a new set of regulations related to public service vehicles, designed to eliminate corruption at the root of the problem.
