A survey of 130 senior officials from across the region has identified that mobility, cloud and analytics rank high in their priorities for 2013. The research was part of pre-event activities for the 9th annual FutureGov Summit.

“My three areas of focus for 2012 are enhancing the existing analytic system for better profiling of taxpayers’ behaviour and taxpayers’ debt, to introduce mobile versions of the current online services and to explore options to manage a private cloud,” says Mariam Mohammad, CIO, Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia. “I am particularly interested to learn about the latest developments in data warehouses, business analytics and single sign on for multiple platform applications.”

Mohammad is not the only Malaysian with these priorities. Dato’ Rosni Abdul Malek, Director, Implementation Coordination Unit, Prime Minister’s Department of Malaysia comments that she is interested in “discussing systems integration, data warehousing and business intelligence and mobile applications” in order to support and value-add to the decision making processes for her organisation.

Over in Indonesia, the Ministry of Communication & Information Technology is looking for solutions to efficiently and securely engage citizens using mobile technology. “Mobile technology is one option for government to reach citizens, however, the integration of information system and collaboration between government and private sectors to achieve better public services have not been fully realised. Security assurance is also an issue we need to discuss,” says Head of Planning Division, Bambang Dwi Anggono.

According to Pornvadee Tapsanan, Director of Business Solution Delivery Office II, Information Technology Department, Bank of Thailand, his focus for 2013 are “to use Big Data Analytics to increase productivity and enhance Risk Management & Compliance (both in the areas of Statistics Data Management and IT Infrastructure), to launch mobility services for bank collaboration, and to explore how we can improve the bank’s security and risk management.”
