Tuguegarao city has introduced a new electronic transaction system that will give clients a more convenient way to transact and do business with the government.
Tuguegarao City is the capital city of the Cagayan valley region located in the northeastern part of Luzon, the largest island in the Philippines. It is politically subdivided into 49 baranggays (villages) and has a population of 129, 539.
Dubbed as the Regulatory Simplification Project (RSF), the system will reduce the procedures in getting business licenses, and provide citizens with a more convenient and cost-effective way to do transactions. The initiative stemmed from President Aquino’s thrust to boost the competitiveness and “ease of doing business” of Local Government Units.
According to Maria Fe Villania, planning and development coordinator, the new system includes uniform and standard computation of fees and taxes as well as other charges. In addition apart from the shorter time of business transaction and document processing, the system has a minimal interface with three Local Government Units employees.
She further stated that the system is fully automated which enables a client to wait only up to half an hour, provided that all the necessary requirements are completed.
