MUSCAT — Khalifa bin Said al Abri, Acting CEO of the Public Authority for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises (PADSME) said that the e-system for allocating 10 per cent of the public purchases and tenders for SMEs has been activated at 18 public organisations. These organisations started giving part of their tenders to SMEs; a move, which will serve the interests of entrepreneurs operating at different fields. He pointed out that while an IT team at PADSME has followed up the configuring of the database for the other public organisations, another team is following up the organisations that have started implementing the system and the electronic programme.

“The implementation of the programme aims at collecting data and statistics from all public organisations to get the accurate figure and implementation rate of the decision. “It also comes in a bid to implement in-country-value (ICV) and have a full survey for all SMEs. This will ensure a proper database for PADSME about the number of these organisations, their performance and accordingly identifying the training needs either inside or outside the Sultanate depending on the sectors and the level of each enterprise. The initiative also aims at giving all SMEs the opportunity to take part in the public tenders and purchases,” Al Abri added. — ONA
