The eGovernment Authority has devoted more time to develop the Search Engine on the National Portal (Bahrain.bh), which was inaugurated by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology, last April during the official opening of Bahrain International eGovernment Forum.

The engine is connected with a unified database, linked to all government websites available on the internet, supported with new features, adopted with the latest standards in accordance with the best international practices.

CEO of the eGovernment Authority Mohammed Ali Al Qaed stated that in cooperation with concerned authorities, the eGovernment began updating and linking government database that are supported with an advanced search engine which is provided with mechanisms that allow users to obtain the required search results. The engine meets the needs of all the concerned authorities in dealing with government bodies such as nationals, expatriates, visitors and businessmen; as it benefits from a bundle of available services and a set of different options.

Al Qaed stated that the aim of developing the search engine is to provide a new concept and an added value service on government services by bringing together all available information linked to search enquiries from the national portal of the authority, along with other government websites.

The search engine allows the option of 'Favorite List of Search Request' to obtain speedier results and provide advanced navigation system of interactive maps derived from the available information of each service.

Al Qaed highlighted that the eGovernment Authority is keen to implement more projects - derived from the National eGovernment Strategy 2012-2016, with a view to accomplish the objectives and visions pertaining to the strategy. The strategy stresses on achieving excellence for next generation of eGovernment by maximizing efficiency, providing high-quality services, and encouraging active involvement of all users in cooperation with all partners, as well as strengthening a culture of innovation and essence of initiative.

The eGovernment national strategy features more than 90 initiatives, launched within the next years of strategy implementation period. These initiatives will be extended to include laws and regulations required to create a safer electronic environment, as well as develop an advanced infrastructure and technological capacities for all government authorities.
