Under auspices of custodian of the two holy mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz, the e-Government Achievement Award “Enjaz” in its second round was recently held in Riyadh.
Minister of Communications and Information Technology “MCIT”, Eng. Mohamed Jameel Bin Ahmad Mulla, honored the winners who represented 20 Government Agencies for their 21 distinctive projects.
At the beginning of the event, MCIT minister commended on the patronage of the King which has reflected the support attributed to communications and information technology sector in general and the e-Government projects in particular.
He pointed out that the event is a good chance for illustrating latest achievements in the field of e-Government. It also elaborated the efforts made and the progress achieved by the Kingdom on the international level as per the last e-Government Survey report issued by United Nations in 2012, he added.
On his part, Eng. Ali Bin Saleh Al-Soma, Director General of the e-Government Program “Yesser” said that about 148 government projects submitted by 60 government agencies were in high competition for the award.
He elaborated mission, vision and objectives of the Award confirming that it has come as a tool for pushing innovation forward and urging government agencies to implement e-Services and reach more cooperation with one another for serving community better.
The Award’s branches covered services offered to individuals and private sector in addition to community e-participation and cooperation across government agencies, said the Director General. The award came up with a new branch named “e-Leadership” where government agencies were honored as per results of transformation measurements for both last results and progress ratio between 3rd and 4th rounds of the same measurement, he added.
Al-Soma confirmed that the Award’s Jury followed strict standards where it worked independently to reach such fair results. The jury members are experts in e-Government both on international and local arenas, he said.
The winners in this second round of the e-Government Achievement award included in the branch of (Serving People Better G2C) “the Educational Nour System” by Ministry of Education, “Prospective Services Project” by General Organization for Social Insurance, “Labor e-Licenses” by Ministry of Labor. In (the Promoting Economy G2B) branch, the winners were the General Organization for Social Insurance for the project of “e-Registration for manpower”, the Ministry of Social Affairs for “the Global Goodness” Project, and the Industrial Property Authority for the “Integrated services for lands and licenses”. The third branch “Working across Agencies”, the winners are both General Directorate for Passports for “integrating with other government agencies” and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for “the visas e-Services – government agencies”. The fourth branch of the Award (Community eParticipation) included Al-Ahsa Municipality winning for its project “Your Voice Is Heard – Prompt Support”, Jeddah Municipality for its project “Social Media channels” and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry for its “experience in Twitter”.
The Award also came up with other two branches, the first of them was (Services through smart devices) where Makkah Municipality has won for “availing its services through smart devices”, and King Fahd Medical City which has achieved the Award for its project “iKFMC” in addition to the Ministry of Higher Education for “e-Services through smart devices”. The last branch of the award was (e-Leadership) which included two sections where three government agencies were honored for achieving better performance in the 4th round of e-Transformation Measurement including the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, the General Organization for Social Insurance and the General Commission for Tourism and Antiquities. In the second section of the (e-Leadership) Award, three government agencies won the award for achieving best progress ratio comparing results of both the 3rd and 4th rounds of e-Transformation measurements, these agencies are Ummal-Qura University, Ministry of Agriculture and Makkah Municipality.
