||The MS Training Centre for Development Cooperation (MS-TCDC) is part of the NGO MS, Danish Association for International Cooperation. The MD-TCDC was opened in 1976 to prepare Danish Volunteers for their assignments in different Eastern and Southern African Countries. The centre still receives these Danish Development Workers sent out by MS, for the four weeks African Orientation Course. But today, the majority of our more than 500 annual participants come for our Swahili and Development courses from regional NGOs and others.
The MS-TCDC is conducting a one-week course on Gender, Women Rights and Governance from 21 - 25 October 2013 in Arusha, Tanzania.
Participants will have developed an understanding of gender related processes in governance and acquired skills to address gender inequalities, promote women’s participation in development interventions at all levels. The main objective is to improve representation and full participation of women in just and democratic governance processes.
• Key concepts and definitions;
• Key relationships: Gender, women rights and human rights principles and practices;
• Gender audit of the national and local governments;
• Power analysis and resource mapping;
• Representation and participation of women; opportunities and challenges; and
• Developing gender responsive strategies.
The course is aimed at civil society organisations, technical staff in local governments, politicians (councillors), senior and middle level managers in development agencies.
