Management Development Institute (MDI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs and the Personnel Management Office (PMO) recently held a five-day training for government workers on tailor-made training on strategic management and ICT for planners.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Mr Alieu Jarju, the Deputy Director General of MDI, said it's imperative to develop adequate and efficient human resources capacity to not only deliver services to citizens, but to compete with other nations.

"As such, human capital development processes would be facilitated by government policies and shouldered by a well-disciplined and technically prepared legion of public servants," he said.

According to him, the country's national policy frameworks, such as Vision 2020 will not be achieved unless various institutions have capacity to serve their target audience.

He said it is almost an indisputable fact that human resources of a nation constitute the most precious assets of a nation.

For her part, Amie Colleh Jeng, the Officer-in-Charge of development planning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the training has been valuable in setting the basis given by the participants' guidance on how to make their institutions effective, by working more closely with their strategically-aligned partners and identified resources.

While noting that the knowledge sharing is about collaborating, communicating and connecting, she said the training has provided opportunities to evaluate one's knowledge about management objectives and strategies.
