Source Date: Thursday, May 23, 2013
Focus: Electronic and Mobile Government
Country: South Africa
Created: May 23, 2013

“The summit is expected to review key interventions on peace and security, the implementation of NEPAD projects, the African Peer Review Mechanism, the Third Strategic Plan of the AU Commission and the AU Budget for 2014,” Department of International Relations and Cooperation (Dirco) spokesperson Clayson Monyela said.

The summit, he added, was expected to “take stock of the challenges and achievements of the Organisation over the past 50 years, and to look at a conceptual framework for Vision 2063 – a view of Africa in the next 50 years.”

President Zuma will be supported by the Dirco Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, who is already in Addis Ababa to participate in the 23rd Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the AU, which is, amongst others, discussing the draft budget for the 2014 financial year, the implementation of the Solemn Declaration on Gender Equality in Africa and the situation in Western Sahara, the Middle East and Palestine.

Other ministers who will form part of the SA delegation are Defence and Military Veterans Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, State Security Minister Siyabonga Cwele, and Deputy Minister of Public Service and Administration Ayanda Dlodlo.
