Throughout the three days delegates engaged on a number of collaborations on the use of UNPAN and how it can continue getting support from different countries and also developing strategies on citizen's engagement as key in Open Government data initiatives, learning from different countries and sharing data through the UNPAN portal.
Making a presentation at the second day of the summit on Thursday, Mr John Kipchumbah from Kenya said transforming the service delivery around the continent was essential and that Open Data was a good action plan taken by his government to open up channels and sources of information required by citizens and other civic centres.
"Open Government is a government that is receptive, accommodating, responsive and accountable to its citizenry," he said.
Discussions also concerned implementation and monitoring of Open Government Data initiatives.
Officials from countries like Kenya, Brazil, Canada, Mauritius and South Africa took a turn in sharing the tools developed by the UN and presented successfully implemented case studies of Open Data related projects.
