The Brazilian government intends to work together with the industry to promote the necessary adjustments in the Information Technology Law before the final report of the WTO Panel, which will be officially known on 14 December and which is expected to condemn the industrial policies practised by Brazil. So said the Secretary of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications, Maximiliano Martinhao, at a meeting with the Brazilian Electrical and Electronics Industry Association (Abinee).

He said that, as soon as the decision is made public, a working group will be set up to bring the Laws into line with WTO demands and think of alternatives. After the disclosure of the report, Brazil will have the right, until February 2017, to appeal to the WTO arbitration body. The final decision should take place in September of next year, establishing a deadline for implementing the adjustments.
