Most Danish homes have internet access that is fast enough to use online medical and social services, according to a report by PA Consulting Group for the Energy Authority, Digitisation Authority, local council organisation KL and regional administration organisation Danske Regioner. The report looked at services such as smart monitoring and assistance via GPS tracking and fall sensors; remote, home medical readings such as for CPOD patients; physiotherapy monitoring; video calls to patients; and wound examinations

The report looked at seventeen services and found that using them required an internet service at up to 3.0 Mbps for downloads and at least 1.7 Mbps for uploads, in order to function efficiently.

There is nationwide mobile broadband coverage at 3.0 Mbps, with some local variations. Via cable, 99 percent of residences can carry out downloads at 2.0 Mbps and uploads at 0.5 Mbps, enabling use of most digital social services.

By 2020, online social and medical services are expected to need capacity to download at 5.0 Mbps, a speed currently available via fixed line to 84 percent of residences. This is because the report predicts greater use of video calling and streaming. Almost the whole country has mobile service at that speed.
