UK: E-Government National Awards 2010: Finalists Announced

The finalists have been announced in this year’s e-Government National Awards.

The UK’s most closely watched public sector technology awards, supported by the Prime Minister David Cameron, recognise excellence and innovation in digital initiatives in national and local government, the NHS, education and the third sector.

The Awards ceremony, attended by ministers, top-civil servants and technology experts from the public and private sectors, will be held on Wednesday 26 January at the London Guildhall.

Prime Minister David Cameron congratulated the finalists and said that digital communication was key to making governemt more transparent: “The e-Government National Awards recognise some of the brilliant work done by digital specialists working across national and local government," he said. "I congratulate all the nominees and encourage all digital specialists across the public sector to follow their good example and innovation.”

John Suffolk, Award judge and the Government's Chief Information Officer also commented. "Against the backdrop of increasingly scarce financial resources, the sheer innovation, quality and passion for public service that these projects demonstrate make me hugely proud to be leader of IT in the Public Sector,” he said.
