Visits to the Prime Minister's official website almost doubled in the space of one month during October.
Downing Street said that in October number10.gov.uk received 769,850 page views, with 317,136 visits from 244,833 unique users.
In
September figures were comparatively much lower with the Downing Street
web portal receiving just 440,038 page views, 179,395 visits and
129,724 unique users.
Number 10 said: "A number of major reviews
and reports were published during October." These included Chancellor
George Osborne's Comprehensive Spending Review, the Strategic Defence
and Security Review, the government's review of quangos and Sir Philip
Green's Efficiency Review.
Celebrity visits to Downing Street
from individuals including California's governor Arnold Schwarzenegger
and Fifa President Sepp Blatter were also given as possible reasons for
the increase in interest on the website.
The use of social media
has also been prevalent for the Prime Minister. Downing Street said it
had more than 1.75m Twitter followers at the end of October. During
August, it said Flickr was visited 122,359 times. This rose to more than
1m visits by the beginning of November.
Downing Street also said that David Cameron had 95,000 fans on Facebook at the start of November.
