Uzbekistan: Experts Discuss Advantages of Innovation Center

A meeting with software exporters to discuss the mechanisms for implementing the tasks set by the Presidential Decree "On measures to radically improve the conditions for the development of the information technology industry in the country" passed in the capital.

At the meeting, representatives of the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications, the Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank, other government agencies, as well as managers of companies operating in the information technology market discussed the advantages of the Innovation Center for Supporting the Development and Implementation of Information Technologies "Mirzo Ulugbek Innovation Center». Its creation is stipulated by this Decree.

Speakers noted at the event that the Center will be an excellent step in creating favorable conditions for the formation and active development of high-tech industries based on the use of ICT, further deepening the integration of science, education and production in this industry.

It was noted that the term of functioning of the Innovation Center is 10 years with the possibility of its subsequent extension. In addition, participants also mentioned that the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev provided a number of privileges and preferences for participants of the Innovation Center for Supporting the Development and Implementation of Information Technologies "Mirzo Ulugbek Innovation Center». In particular, residents of the center are exempted from paying taxes and compulsory payments until January 1, 2028. Employees of residents of the Innovation Center will also receive tax benefits.

During the meeting, representatives of the IT community of Uzbekistan made their recommendations and proposals on effective organization of the Center's activities and attracting residents.

The participants expressed their opinion that the IT sphere lacks highly qualified programmers and it is necessary to create additional conditions for training and retraining of specialists.
