The government of Singapore has managed to provide new jobs and keep healthcare service and public housing affordable over the past two years, said the Ministry of Finance (MOF) on Friday.

The fourth edition of the Singapore Public Sector Outcomes Review (SPOR) published Friday noted that Singapore's government has been committed to "providing opportunities for all by renewing the economy, transforming industries and enhancing lifelong employability" over the past two years.

The biennial review highlighted SPRING Singapore's effort in contributing 6.9 billion Singapore dollars (4.84 billion U.S. dollars) to cumulative value-add and creating 19,000 new jobs.

Unemployment rate has also remained stable at 3 percent or lower in the last five years.

The review said that healthcare for the elderly has remained affordable with the introduction of the Pioneer Generation Package (PGP) in 2014.

The report said over 90 percent of pioneers enjoyed PGP subsidies for their visits to subsidized specialist outpatient clinics, polyclinics or Community Health Assist Scheme (Chas) clinics, between September 2014 and December 2015.

In addition, public housing has become more affordable for first-time home buyers due to the increase in housing grants.

There was, however, a slight increase of about 3 percent in the overall crime rate per 100,000 population in 2015 over 2014, largely due to rising number of online commercial crimes.

"Nonetheless, the overall law and order situation in Singapore remains under control," the review noted.
