Kyrgyzstan Announces Initiative to Establish Tourist Union of Central Asia

Kyrgyzstan has announced an initiative on establishment of Tourist Union of Central Asia countries, the Tourism Department under the Culture Ministry informed.

According to its data, the initiative was announced in a course of working out a strategy of tourism sustainable development of the Silk Road’s heritage corridors in Almaty city of the Kazakh Republic.

“Countries all over the world are joining in unions for increase in competitiveness of tourism sector. Thus, tourist unions of the South-East Asia, Latin America, island states, Arab region and Europe countries were created in such way. A uniting factor of this is that modern tourists prefer such tours, which combine visiting several countries with different cultures, historical and geographical peculiarities. A tour throughout the whole region looks much more attractive,” the idea initiators consider.

Colleagues from Kazakhstan and Tajikistan supported the initiative of the Kyrgyz Tourism Department. They decided to hold a working conference on this topic in Kyrgyzstan in 2014.

Besides, the Kyrgyz Tourism Department stated that there was achieved an agreement of resumption of Tashkent-Balykchy tourist train at the fair in Tashkent on October 10.
