Nepal: Govt Focused on Good Governance, Corruption Control to Ensure Success of CA Election Regmi

Chairman of the Election Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi has said the government is currently focused on ensuring good governance, transperancy and control corruption in order to make the second election to the Constituent Assembly scheduled for November 19 successful.

 

Speaking on the occasion of the 7th founding day of the Public Purchase Monitoring Office in the capital on Monday, he said that in order to ensure the success of the upcoming polls also the government has to give top priority to good governance and doing away with rampant corruption that exists in the country.

 

During the program Regmi launched electronic purchase system, a software that will facilitate electronic purchases. He said that the new system will help in streamlining public expenditure and ensure its proper utilisation.

 

The adoption the new electronic purchase system would ensure that public expenditure will reach its full potential, Regmi added.

 

Regmi was of the view that the new software will bring transparency and trustworthiness in purchases made by government offices and other public bodies and help ensure competitiveness in contracts with accountability and trustworthiness. He said it would control evils and aberrations by giving a feel of good governance in public financial administration.

 

Also speaking on the occasion, secretary of the Monitoring Office Dhan Bahadur Tamang said there are more than 40,000 public bodies and the main task of his Office was to ensure transperancy in their transactions for good governance.

 

65 suppliers, contractors and service providers were kept in black list for one to three years for acting against the purchase act and regulations, he informed.
