The Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) launched recently an electronic permits and clearance system which aims to facilitate the import and export of sugar related cargo through the Philippine National Single Window (PNSW) project by the Bureau of Customs.

The PNSW is a web-based system that allows parties involved in trade to lodge information and documents with a single entry point to fulfill all import, export, and transit-related regulatory requirements. It involves 40 government agencies who are responsible for issuing import and export licenses, permits and clearances.

Once the PNSW is in place, it is expected to make importing and exporting easier for various stakeholders.

As part of the PNSW, the e-Clearance system was made possible through a collaborative effort by SRA and its partner agencies which include Bancnet and the Land Bank of the Philippines.

This completes the loop for the paperless transactions in the issuing of the e-permits and clearances of the sugar related cargoes by sugar importers and exporters.

Bancnet will serve as the gateway of the e-payment system where sugar importers and exporters will use when paying for the e-permits/clearances.

The e-payment method is expected to facilitate efficient paperless transactions and cut transaction costs in securing cargo permits and clearances.

Meanwhile, Landbank will be the consolidator bank and depositry bank of SRA.
