The Government will be expanding the reach of eProcurement (ePorelehan) to the state of Sabah which will enable suppliers and vendors in the state to participate in online business transactions with the government.

The ePorelehan (eP) system is an e-government application supervised by the Ministry of Finance (MOF) and introduced in year 2000, to make it easier to undertake procurement matters electronically. It aims to provide a more efficient and effective procurement process as well as savings in the business of procurement such as through the eBidding module and bidding online.

According to eP Unit Project Director, Datuk Mohd Shafiq Abdullah, the future plans would be to increase the number of eP and eP@Desa centres in Sabah to facilitate the suppliers to get services on the eP system wholly.

He added that a total of 6,812 suppliers in Sabah are registered with the MOF including 3,502 Bumiputera-status companies, but only 51 per cent are eP-enabled, out of the total suppliers of 110,327 in Malaysia as of 30 September this year.

He urged suppliers in Sabah to trade actively through the eP, as out of the 4,603 suppliers that are eP-enabled, only 1,119 suppliers or 26 per cent, have uploaded their catalogues into the eP system. “Through the use of the integrated eP system, government procurement can be done faster, correctly and with integrity,” he said.
