Three out of four South Koreans believe gender discrimination is still a problem in Korean society.

The Gender Equality and Family Ministry polled 35-hundred adults to survey the demand for policy measures for women. Seventy-five percent of respondents said gender discrimination is still a problem in society.

Eighty-two percent of women and 67 percent of men agreed to this view.

Respondents said gender discrimination was most evident in income, followed by politics and public safety.

The survey shows parents' preference for sons over daughters has diminished as 70 percent were negative or neutral about the idea that they should have at least one son. Seventy-nine percent responded the same way to the idea that the son will inherit more family wealth.
