India: Workshop on ‘e-Governance & Electronic Service Delivery’ Conducted at Chandigarh

The Governance Reforms Department conducted a Workshop on ‘E-Governance & Electronic Service Delivery’ with an aim to create better coordination amongst all departments of Punjab Government.

Purushartha, Special Secretary cum Director, Governance Reforms said that the workshop was organized subsequent to the meeting of Deputy Chief Minister, Minister-In-Charge of Governance Reforms, held on 30-May-2011 wherein it was decided that all Citizen services should be delivered in an integrated manner through Single Window Centers and every Department needs to be sensitized to lay focus on implementation of ongoing e-Governance initiatives in Punjab including mission mode projects under National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) of Government of India for efficient delivery of citizen services.

He futher said that workshop was also aimed at addressing the challenges being faced by departments in providing time-bound citizen services keeping in view the recent implementation of Punjab Right To Service Act 2011.

Purushartha emphasized regarding need to form Project e-Governance Mission Team (PeMT) for every Department for undertaking various e-Governance initiatives. He further said that Departments must focus on backend automation of Government processes by transforming workflows so that services can be delivered to Citizens in a hassle free, transparent and time-bound manner.

State e-Governance Mission Team (SeMT) shared informative presentations followed by interactive sessions on Integrated Delivery Framework of Services, Formation of PeMTs, National e-Governance Plan, Transformation of Government Process Workflows and Impact Assessments of various eGovernance initiatives.
