Samoa's Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sailele, is making moves to ensure women make up at least 10 per cent of the country's parliament in the future.
Currently, only two of the 49 Samoan MPs are women and Mr Tuilaepa says the Attorney-General's office is reviewing the Electoral Act to try and improve this number.
The Prime Minister says he wants any amendments to come into effect by the next general election in 2016.
He also says Samoa is not the only country in the region letting women down when it comes to politics.
"It was revealed to us that in the whole world there are nine parliaments that have no women members and six of those nine are in the Pacific, so that is quite an embarrassment."
