The Thai ICT ministry is planning to hold talks with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to clarify its position on foreign dominance regulations, the Nation writes citing ICT minister Anudith Nakornthap. The minister made the comment after a visit from DTAC chief executive Jon Eddy Abdullah and Sigve Brekke, head of Telenor Asia, which is the foreign partner of DTAC. Abdullah and Brekke asked about the ministry's policy on 3G service developments, the ministry's plan for the end of concession contracts, and its position on foreign dominance regulations, which took effect recently. The rules aim to prevent full control of the management of local telecommunications operators by their foreign partners and the use of Thai nominees to get around foreign ownership restrictions. DTAC is currently being investigated for possible breaches of the foreign ownership rules.
