The Program of Accelerated Industrial Innovative Development of Kazakhstan will be implemented ahead of schedule, President Nursultan Nazarbayev announced at a plenary session of the EBRD Annual Meeting in Astana.
The President noted that the program is designed to prepare and protect the Kazakh economy from future shocks and move it away from commodity dependence.
"The program brings tangible results. 152 new industrial facilities totaling KZT 800 billion were put into service last year. 23,000 new jobs were created," Nazarbayev said.
All in all it is planned to implement about 500 projects totaling KZT 12 trillion with 200 thousand permanent jobs.
According to the Head of State, implementation of these plans will lead to major structural changes in the economy due to the growth of non-commodity export-oriented real sector.
