There is no doubt that we are in the midst of a great revolution in the history of women. Women have now not only found their place in work places but are also to governance. The voice of top women that can be heard in Parliament, courts and in the streets in the year 2010 will begin with Pratibha Patil, the first women President of India. She was successful in bringing to the presidency certain warmth, without taking away from its majesty.

Nirupama Rao, Foreign Secretary, India's first lady ambassador to China, first lady spokesperson for the ministry of external affairs proved herself during the year 2010. The enthusiasm with which Barack Obama greeted her at Palam airport on November 7 is an indication how successful is the soft-spoken, scholarly and graceful lady, reports Rediff.

Meira Kumar, the Speaker of Lok Sabha, a batch mate of Nirupama Rao and the first woman speaker of Lok Sabha, is a pleasant, polite, but intensely reserved woman who should be a role model for the other Dalit women in the country.

Sushma Swaraj, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, was also successful in bringing out her opinion, even though sometimes controversial, but have always made space for change.

Sonia Gandhi, Congress President, leader of the United Progressive Alliance, Mayawati, Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh- who entered into the Limca book of record for the 'largest political rally in India', Sheila Dikshit, Chief Minister, Delhi - the iron hands behind the success of the CWG, Meera Shankar, India's Ambassador to the United States of America and Mamata Banerjee, the Founder and Chief Executive of the All India Trinamool Congress Party are the top women of India driving governance.
