The Papua New Guinea Chamber of Mines and Petroleum has called on the PNG Government to sign up to a major international anti-corruption initiative.
The Extractive Industries Tansparency Initiative is designed to help countries clean-up their mining and resource industries by publishing details of all revenue received.
Thirty-two countries have already joined.
PNG Chamber of Mines Executive Director Greg Anderson says implementing the initiative would be a step forward for Papua New Guinea.
"We feel all citizens have a right to know what revenue the government is receiving from our industry," he said.
"We also feel that, as an industry, we are making a major contribution to the nation and that that is not always transparent."
Mr Anderson says signing up to the intiative would demonstate to the world that PNG is serious about tackling corruption.
