Bandar Seri Begawan - The Minister of Religious Affairs said in providing a service, public servant should not be emotional or play truant and only work hard when assessment time is near.

Pg Dato Seri Setia Hj Mohammad said this at the Civil Service Day and a ceremony to hand over souvenirs to retired officers and MoRA staff.

He said such matters were highlighted by His Majesty the Sultan at the 17th Civil Service Day where the monarch reminded that in plans to develop the civil service, basic and core matters should not be neglected.

Among the matters include attendance, commitment, dedication, discipline and integrity or technology transfer would not be successful.

The minister also underscored Islamic work etiquette which extends to the hereafter.

It means that the job will become a pious activity if coupled with `Zikrullah' or intention for Allah, or the nation.

Hence, to enhance public service, one must support the mission to become a developed nation by 2035 and a modern and hi-tech nation of zikir.

Public servants should be committed and sincere when rendering a service and not stay old-fashioned, he said. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
