Iloilo City (5 November) -- More than one hundred local public officials and employees, students, and representatives of national government agencies participated in the seminar that tackled current issues on Governance, Social Accountability and the Environment organized by the Association of Schools of Public Administration in the Philippines, Inc (ASPAP-West Visayas Chapter).

The event, in coordination with the West Visayas State University, Master in Public Governance, was held in Iloilo City, November 5.

The speakers include Mr. Randee Cabaces, Coordinator of the Affiliated Network for Social Accountability in East Asia and the Pacific who talked on Social Accountability and Dr. Danilo Reyes, Professor of the National College of Public Administration and Governance of the University of the Philippines, Diliman who tackled Corruption, Contradiction and Conscience of a Whistleblower's Story.

On the other hand, Dr. Alicia Lustica, Regional Technical Director for Research of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources 6 was tasked to discuss topics such as Understanding Climate Change and Environmental Governance.

WVSU President Dr. Pablo Subong said that the event "is an avenue from which we can create awareness in good governance regarding the impact of climate change to our environment."
