New Delhi, September 14, 2010: Elets Technomedia and its government vertical publication, eGov magazine, have announced the launch of India eGov 2.0 Awards aimed at identifying and recognising innovations in usage of social media and Web 2.0 tools for governance and social development.

The Award also aims at recognising the most ‘user friendly’ government and public sector website and is open for nomination by government and public sector organisations, citizens, citizen groups, NGOs and political parties in the India.

Giving details of the awards Elets Technomedia CEO Dr Ravi Gupta said, “India eGov 2.0 Awards is a unique initiative that will help bring to forth best practices of government and public sector websites and use of social media tools by them, as well as by civil societies and various development organisations in the country.”

He further informed that while the India eGov 2.0 Award 2010 for the most innovative social media initiative would be decided by an eminent panel of jury, the most user friendly government and public sector websites will be decided through an “expert evaluation study” conducted by the usability experts at Elets Technomedia Research.

“We have created a compliance matrix based on the government of India’s guidelines for websites for evaluating the most user friendly websites. Overall, the parameters include the identity or branding of the websites, the look and feel or the design, the ease of access or technical compatibility, ease of use or navigation structure and clues, the relevance of content and the interactivity or responsiveness that the website offers,” he informed.

The Grand Jury panel for selecting the innovative social media initiative will be grading the entries on the basis of pre-defined selection criterion focusing on goals and objectives, innovation, impact, its reach, cost and time savings.

While the last date for submitting the nomination is October 15, 2010, the Grand Jury meet for selecting the innovative social media initiative will be held on October 20, 2010.
