MUSCAT — The Capital Market Authority announced in a circular that vehicle insurance has become, with effect from yesterday, available electronically through the activation of the e-link system, as CMA has directed insurance companies to adopt necessary measures to activate the shared database between insurance companies and the Royal Oman Police.
The circular stressed that the renewal of vehicle licenses will be through the e-link system, after all insurance forms are uploaded by the insurance companies. The circular also identified actions that should be carried out by insurance companies for the implementation of the objectives of the system.
In its trial stage, the system will use the current manual form during the first month for purposes of follow-up and assessment. The forms will not be used after January. The project comes under the general orientation towards -government and Oman Digital society to achieve the highest levels of technical practice and take advantage of its properties for development issues in social and economic areas. — ONA
