H.H. Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority, launched the official website of Dubai eGovernment Department, www.deg.gov.ae, today (Sunday, October 17, 2010), the first day of GITEX Technology Week 2010.

The website, which was launched by the Department on the sidelines of its participation in GITEX Technology Week, is regarded as the official window of communication with Dubai Government department employees, the media and the public, and is aimed at showcasing the services provided by the Department to boost eTransformation in the emirate.

On its website, the Department showcases both Dubai's eTransformation policies and monitoring of eTransformation quality. Under the main classification of "Our Services", the five services that the Departments provides to its partners are listed with links to the Official Portal of Dubai Government, dubai.ae, the official magazine of Dubai eGovernment, e4all, "UAE Vision 2021" and "U.A.E. Government Strategy 2011-2013".

The new website offers the possibility to view detailed information on specific services including eJob, mPay, eComplain, ePay and mDubai, in addition to several select services provided by the government departments to individuals.

Marking the occasion, H.E. Ahmed Bin Humaidan, Director General, Dubai eGovernment, said: "The launch of our corporate website is the result of the efforts exerted by our team, which represents all Dubai eGovernment's technological and strategic segments, in line with our partners' aspirations and needs for getting familiarized with our services and activities. We are striving to achieve our vision for a connected and integrated government and integrate our processes with all Dubai Government entities, the private sector and other stakeholders in order to serve our customers better."

"The new website is only a first technological phase which will be followed by successive phases to enrich the content and services provided to government employees and the public in line with the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, of easing the lives of people and businesses interacting with the government and contributing to reaffirming Dubai's position as a leading economic hub, complementing the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015," Bin Humaidan added, noting that the Department would strive in the period ahead to develop the website into the official gateway for the departments seeking Dubai eGovernment's services.

"Our Services" represents Dubai eGovernment's approach of providing its services to the public and government departments and has been divided into 5 major categories; namely:

Direct Public Services: These include a collection of online services provided by Dubai eGovernment to be used as channels that help the public have an easy access to Dubai government departments' online services and assist these departments in providing their services including dubai.ae and the mobile portal. They also include one-stop-shop public services like eJob, eComplain, mPay and eLibrary.

Core & Channel Enabling Services: These include designing and developing core enabling synergistic services like ePay, mobile messaging services (mDubai), electronic surveys (eSurvey), cross-government information exchange (SYNC), a unified government services repository (GeSS), hosting portal services (eHost) and multi channel contact centre AskDubai.

Government Resources Planning (GRP) System Services: These include a suite of electronic systems and software utilized by the government departments to manage their basic processes like the Financial Management Systems, Supply Chains, HR, Payroll, Enterprise Project Management, Property Manager, Asset Life Management Systems, and Government Employees, among others.

Collaboration, Connectivity & Infrastructure: Connectivity services include the Government Information Network, while collaboration services include enabling messaging through shared email, mobile messaging and chat. Dubai eGovernment to carry on its way towards a connected and integrated government. They include consultancy services; policy related services; establishment of standards and eTransformation rules; skill and competency enhancement services; IT governance activities and targeted trainings; and government joint sourcing services.

Under "Connected Government", the website displays Dubai eGovernment's vision and steps to achieve a connected and integrated government including the existence of an efficient and systematic approach to gather, re-use and share data, information and services for easing the lives of people and businesses interacting with the government with less effort and time.

A section has been allocated for the "Media Centre", which is a comprehensive repository for journalists and the general public. The section includes all press releases, Dubai eGovernment media coverage and a photo gallery, making it a very comprehensive media repository.

"Our Publications" includes references that meet the needs of the government sector, media sector and scholars like the Websites Standards and Guidelines, which are prepared by Dubai eGovernment's Strategic Planning Division for the evaluation of the websites of all Dubai government departments. This section also includes facts and figures which show statistics about the achievements of the GRP systems and the Core & Channel Enabling Services. It also includes an electronic archive of e4all editions that serves as a reliable guide for information on eTransformation in Dubai.

Bin Humaidan emphasized that Dubai eGovernment would continue to manage dubai.ae, which is used to access Dubai government departments' online services, together with its official corporate website, which was launched as a gateway of communication between Dubai eGovernment and its partner departments, enabling them to access all services conveniently while progressing together on the eTransformation journey of Dubai.
