The NDP brand identity was launched on 21 August 2016 to ensure a uniform communications approach across all spheres of government, implementing agencies and social partners championing the NDP.

The logo reflects the South African flag as the main visual element accompanied by the letters NDP and the figure 2030. The logo also has the National Flag which is the most commonly used visual symbol of South Africa.

In 2012, Cabinet adopted the NDP which is a long term vision and plan that serves as a blueprint for the work that needs to be done to achieve a prosperous society for South Africa by 2030.

The core priorities of the NDP are to reduce poverty, unemployment and inequality.

The Department of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (DPME) monitors the progress towards the NDP 2030 through the Medium-Term Strategic Framework (MTSF) 2014-2019, which is the first five-year implementation plan of the NDP, and which prioritises 14 outcomes.

The department said South Africa will by 2030 realise the goals in the NDP by drawing on the energies of its people, growing an inclusive economy, building capabilities, enhancing the capacity of the state, and promoting leadership and partnerships throughout society.

“Government welcomes the partnership with business, labour all spheres of government and all sectors to rally around the NDP which is not just a plan for government, but for the whole country.

“Government is further implementing the NDP through levers including the Nine-Point Plan aimed at igniting economic growth and creating much needed jobs.

“The NDP seeks to enhance capabilities of South Africans through skills development and access to quality education, and by building a responsive economic infrastructure as well as a capable state and active citizenry,” said the department.
