“The purpose of the W-WEP is to provide support to women-owned and led enterprises to be effective and efficient in delivering proper water and sanitation related services to the public. This programme is intended to run for three years,” Minister Mokonyane said.
The programme is made up of three projects, which include the Mentorship Project, Women in Water Entrepreneurship Incubator (WEI) Project and a Women’s Form.
Minister Mokonyane said her department continues to invest in skilling, especially young people, so that they can play a meaningful role in the building of dams, canals and other water infrastructure as well as the delivery of sanitation infrastructure.
The department is also creating an enabling environment for job opportunities for the historically excluded and vulnerable groups, and it supports small, medium and micro-enterprises in the sector.
