The move is part of government's shake-up of ICT management and follows the split of communications ministries announced in May.
The role of the Independent Communications Authority of SA (ICASA) was also clarified in the proclamation, with the entity remaining under the new Department of Communications (DOC) led by Faith Muthambi.
According to the proclamation, DTPS will also oversee the following legislations:
* Sentech Act
* Electronic Communications Act
* Electronic Communications and Transactions Act
The DOC will also oversee the following legislations:
* Broadcasting Act
* Independent Communications Authority of South Africa Act
* Media Development and Diversity Agency Act
