The MEC for Social Development Mrs Sisi Ntombela will also be part of these events on her capacity as MEC and Chairperson of the African National Congress Women’s League in the Free State province.
As part of the event, forty (41) families who are in dire need for general support due to poverty were identified by women of EMS whilst on duty call. The EMS women would like to empower those families by donating clothes and giving moral support in line with the main objectives of a service delivery improvement programme. The event will take place in Botshabelo Community Hall on the 2 August 2014. Women from SAPS, Traffic, Botshabelo Local Municipality, Health Services and Social Development departments will also take part in this event.
Other focus areas of the event will include looking into many challenges which are facing women such as HIV and AIDS, Maternal and Child Mortality, Poverty, Gender relations, Globalisation, Violence, Access to basic needs, Access to employment ,Women empowerment, Access to land, science and technology.
Woman have demonstrated their character, courage and commitment as mothers, educators, institution builders, business, labor, political and community leaders, relief workers, women religious, and CEOs. Their lives and their work inspire girls and women to achieve their full potential and encourage boys and men to respect the diversity and depth of women’s experience.
More than two thousand (2 000) people are expected to attend the women’s month event. The department is committed to woman empowerment and it is important for society to promote and protect the rights of woman and children, especially those in the rural areas.
