This year's tournament was themed “Educate a child, empower a nation.”
Donations and proceeds from the event will go to the Jacob G Zuma RDP Education Trust, which the President chose as a beneficiary when he took office in 2009.
The tournament was followed by the Presidential Golf Challenge Prize-Giving Gala Dinner which took place at Cape Town International Conference Centre. Among guests who attended the gala dinner was President Zuma, Minister for Public Service and Administration, Ms Lindiwe Silulu, CEO of the Jacob G Zuma RDP Education Trust Ms Nokuthula Ngubane and senior government officials. Representatives from sponsors Cell C, Metropolitan, Transnet, Gijima, and Khauleza were also present at the gala dinner.

Thanking those who contributed to the fundraising, President Zuma explained why the PAGC meant so much to him. “I have a passion for education because education is important. Your enthusiasm, your participation goes a long way to help the poor," he said.

He further explained the reason for establishing the Jacob G Zuma RDP Education Trust, “I had a belief that if you help one person that person will help another. When I established the Trust I knew that the few that we help will make a change in society.”

Minister Lindiwe Sisulu highlighted the importance of contributing to education saying that the purpose of the Jacob G Zuma RDP Education Trust was to provide education for young people who are from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Ms Nokuthula Ngubane said the PAGC has brought relief and excitement to the Trust and that they have seen growth each year.
