The programme will also include tributes by Heads of State from the various regions of the globe, the continent and representatives of international and regional organisations. Eminent persons will also address the gathering.
Government has arranged for free public transport and park and rides to accommodate mourners and ensure that they are able to get to the Stadiums on time. No cars will be allowed near FNB Stadium and there will be road closures in place from Monday, 9 December. People outside of Gauteng should preferably attend memorial services in their own provinces.
The memorial service at FNB will be broadcast live by the SABC.
There will be big screens outside the stadium, at overflow venues at Ellis Park Stadium, Orlando Stadium and Dobsonville Stadium, and in venues throughout the country.
Members of the public who want to attend the National Memorial Service at FNB or other stadiums must plan their trips carefully, leave early and use public transport. No cars will be allowed in the vicinity of FNB Stadium.
Road closures, public transport and park and ride
• There will be road closures around FNB Stadium and no cars will be allowed at the stadium.
• There will also be road closures on Tuesday morning around Orlando, Ellis Park and Dobsonville stadiums.
• Mourners to FNB Stadium can travel by Metrorail from all major stations in Gauteng.
• They will also be able to travel by Gautrain to Park Station and transfer to Metrorail to FNB Stadium.
• People will also be able to walk from the surrounding areas to the stadium
• A special Rea Vaya service will also be in operation.

o Thuso House, entrance in Stiemens Street, Braamfontein

Other memorial events
In honouring Nelson Mandela’s legacy, Parliamenthas mounted a special exhibition that traces, in his own words, the transformation of Parliament and South Africa during his presidency. The Madiba Speaks exhibition will open on Monday 9 December 2013 and will be open from 08h00 to 20h00 daily. The public is invited to the Parliamentary precinct to pay tribute, experience the exhibition, come sign books of condolence and view the proceedings of the Joint Sitting. A space for the laying of wreathes will be clearly marked, close to the entrance, from Plein Street, Cape Town.
