The Government of Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia, launched a call centre number for residents to get information about hospitals across the city.
Residents can simply call 119 from a landline or 021-119 from a mobile phone to obtain information such as available facilities or vacant rooms at various hospitals, or request an ambulance. The single hotline number eliminates the need to call or visit each hospital individually to get the information needed.
Nine hospitals have been included in the project initially. Dien Emmawati, Head of the Health Agency of Jakarta, announced at 92 hospitals across the city will be integrated by next month.
Currently, the call centre is only accessible from landlines and mobile phones connected with PT Telkom, but Emmawati added that telecom provider PT Indosat will join the programme next week. Other providers are also expected to join soon.
“We only have four lines at the moment, so some callers sometimes need to wait to get a response,” said Emmawati, adding that the agency would add more lines in the near future.
