In her opening keynote address Honourable Joyce Moloi-Moropa, the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Public Service and Administration, reminded delegates that South Africa's National Development Plan for Vision 2030 requires a development-oriented state that is supported by a professional public service for enhancing the delivery of high quality public services. "It requires a cadre that can demonstrate developmental values, zeal, knowledge, skill and commitment to being of service," she said. She further said that the role of PALAMA has to lead the "Skills Revolution" within the public service.
During the next two days of the conference, delegates will debate analytical issues impacting and influencing Human Resource Development matters in the Public Service. Speakers for the next three days will include representatives from Organised Labour, National Planning Commission, Public Service Commission and Academia. The delegates will also receive presentations on case studies from international presenters, so as to enhance benchmarking.
