Gor Mahia have launched a new website that became operational on Wednesday morning ahead of their crucial Kenya Premier League (tie against Western Stima at the Nairobi City Stadium. The website was handed over to the club management by the Facebook branch who teamed up with Digimatt solution to develop the site.
The new development comes barely a day after the club launched the pay bill number 20066 and the short code 5282 for easy access to club information like match results, fixtures and ticketing information etc. In a brief ceremony at the club's Nyayo Stadium secretariat, Gor secretary general George Bwana lauded the Facebook branch who engaged the website developer in coming up with the new website www.gormahiafc.co.ke.
Bwana said the Facebook branch was instrumental in the campaign for the club to purchase a bus." The branch, added Bwana," Bwana who was flanked by the club's senior vice chairman David Kiilo, chief executive officer Fred Odera and members of the Facebook branch said they will use the site to market their online shop and update the diaspora fans on the team's progress.
Owing to their massive fan base, Bwana has appealed to the corporate world, parastatal bodies and well wishers to advertisement on the Gor Mahia website. he said the club already enjoys support from10,000 fans. "For the media," he added, "owing to the current traffic gridlock, one can opt to log in our website and get minute by minute updates on a League match."We shall have somebody at the venue who will be feeding readers on the team's progress. In brief, one will be able to get all the information at the comfort of their chair or in the newsroom."
