Zuma will be delivering his key note address to the scores of people who have braved the cold weather to gather on the southern lawns.

Zuma was accompanied by Arts and Culture Minister Lulu Xingwana, Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane and Tshwane Mayor Gwen Ramokgopa.

Zuma’s address is being preceded by a guard of honour by the country’s military, the 21 round gun salute and the national anthem.

Due to bad weather and lack of visibility, there was no fly pass by the South African Air force as expected.

More than 2 000 South African flag waving people have already converged at the venue while many are still expected to make their way here.

As the gun salute began people started waving their flags while others exploded with screams and excitement. - BuaNews
