“I call on every one of you to display a humanly attitude of welcoming our guests and assist them with whatever information from whichever sector they may need”, he told members of the police.

He also appealed to their families to support them during this period, adding that they must be “proud to have been part of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the security team”.

Speaking during a live broadcast through a police television network channel, Cele gave police officers feedback on the recent international visits that have led to South Africa’s 2010 security plan being given a thumbs up by security experts from 32 participating countries and 188 INTERPOL member countries.

Recently, the Southern African Region Police Chiefs’ Cooperation Organisation (SARPCCO) endorsed South Africa’s safety measures that would be put in place against any criminal activity during the World Cup.

Cele also introduced the Good Ambassador Campaign, which aims to promote the Batho Pele principles and aims to instil a spirit of goodwill by SAPS members and South Africans.

Ahead of the world cup, Cele is also set to visit and address SAPS members at parades and through other police commanders that marshal provinces and local policing precincts. – BuaNews
