Digital Government Week: Digital Government for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals
  The Digital Government week will be held in Colombia, Bogota from 25 to 27 October 2017 and aims to gather international experts working on digital public innovation. As part of the week, the INDIGO Awards for Digital Public Innovation will be held to highlight global innovations in digital government implementation. The theme for the event will be ‘Digital Government for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals’. For more information contact mpilonieta@mintic.gov.co.

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the Government of Germany agreed on January 26, in Berlin through a convention signed by both parties that the new joint cooperation programme for the period 2016-2018 will be dedicated to support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the region.

Recapping this Year through the Lens of ECLAC
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) published in 2015 diverse studies regarding the economic, social and environmental situation in the region, including six flagship annual reports that provided statistical information, timely analysis and short- and medium-term outlooks on issues as varied as the expansion of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the behavior of foreign investment and international trade, and the evolution of poverty and inequality.

Latin American and Caribbean Growth Projection for 2015 and 2016

Latin American and Caribbean economies will contract -0.4% on average in 2015 and will grow just 0.2% next year, affected by a complex external scenario, according to new projections unveiled today by Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).

The Latin American Economic Outlook 2016 Launched
Latin America’s GDP growth slowdown deepened and is expected to be negative in 2015. For a second consecutive year, Latin America falls behind the average growth of OECD countries after a full decade of convergence with advanced economies, according to the Latin American Economic Outlook 2016.

Este escrito se presenta como uno de los primeros documentos técnicos que fundamenta la creación de la Estrategia, realizando una identificación de actores, proyectos y avances en materia de gestión pública local, dando como resultado un amplio documento en forma de "mapa" del estado de la cuestión en Centroamérica de los gobiernos locales.

South Africa: The Gauteng Department of Education Pleased with Day One of Online Admissions
On the first day of opening applications for 2019 school admissions, the Gauteng Department of Education said it received 144 124 online applications. “The Gauteng Department of Education is pleased with day one of online admissions for Grade 1 and 8. By 15:15, the department had received 144 124 successful applications. The system is efficient in handling a large volume of applications,” said Gauteng Basic Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi. Within the first 10 minutes of going live on its system, the department received over 10 000 successful applications.

South Africa: Special Envoys on A mission to Net $100bn in Investment
President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed Special Envoys on Investment to spearhead an investment drive with a target of US $100 billion over the next five years. “With the investment envoys, we are unleashing a pack of lions tasked with hunting down investment for us,” said the President. The President’s Special Envoys on Investment include finance heavyweights such as former Finance Minister Trevor Manuel, former Finance Deputy Minister Mcebisi Jonas, the executive chairperson of Afropulse Group, Phumzile Langeni and chairman of Liberty Group and former CEO of Standard Bank Jacko Maree.

South Africa: SA to Use CHOGM 2018 to Lobby Investment
President Cyril Ramaphosa will be based in London this week where he will use his attendance at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM 2018) to position South Africa as an investment destination. “For South Africa, the CHOGM 2018 (which will take place from 19 – 20 April) is an opportunity for the marketing and promotion of South Africa as an investment destination. President Ramaphosa will utilize the opportunity to engage with major investors and business leaders based in the United Kingdom. “The President will thus extend an invitation to leading investors and leaders of business to attend the Investment Summit scheduled for later this year,” said the Presidency in a statement.
