Call for Proposals: Citizen Focused Frontline Service Delivery
The Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) invites all South African government departments/municipalities (national, provincial and local) and other institutions in partnership with a department/municipality to apply for funding under this call themed: Citizen Focused Frontline Service Delivery.

Applicants are required to submit a short concept note in response to this call. Should a private service provider and/or civil society organisations wish to participate, it must be done in partnership with a government department/municipality that will act as the lead applicant.

South Africa: Transport Committee gives Acsa Operations the Nod
The Portfolio Committee on Transport says it is satisfied with the operations of the Airports Company South Africa (Acsa). The chairperson of the committee, Dikeledi Magadzi, said the committee was particularly impressed with Acsa’s emphasis on safety at airports. “The emphasis on safety is reassuring. All the improvements that Acsa is initiating are noteworthy and deserve to be supported. This is one entity that gets South Africa working and interacting with Africa and the world,” she said.

Ghana: Three companies win US$300, 000 Power Africa Prize
Three Ghanaian companies have emerged winners in the Power Africa Off-Grid Energy Challenge, sponsored by General Electric (GE), United States Africa Development Foundation (USADF), and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The companies, which have each been awarded a grant of US$100,000, are Solar Light Company Limited, Kumasi Institute of Tropical Agriculture (KITA) and New Energy. They submitted entries for innovative energy solutions that can be deployed to power socio-economic activities within communities in Ghana that are not connected to the national grid.
