Science and Technology Minister Naledi Pandor has encouraged learners to change South Africa’s future by pursuing mathematics and science. The Minister was addressing learners at the launch of the 2017 National Science Week (NSW) at the newly renamed Nelson Mandela University, in the Eastern Cape. Hosted at the institution’s Missionvale campus, about 3 500 learners from schools in and around Port Elizabeth attended the annual event on Saturday.

South Africa and the Democratic Republic of the Congo have signed a visa waiver agreement for official and diplomatic passport holders. The agreement was signed on Monday by Home Affairs Minister Hlengiwe Mkhize and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Security of the DRC, Emmanuel Ramazani Shadari in Tshwane. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Minister Mkhize said the signing of the agreement is a positive step towards enhancing relations between South Africa and the DRC.
