Members of the public are invited to comment on the Draft Default Regulations in terms of section 36(1)(c) of the Pension Funds Act, No. 24 of 1956. “The draft default proposals published for public comment today follow from the Treasury paper, Charges in South African Retirement Funds, published on 11 July 2013,” Treasury said.

The Department of Trade and Industry (dti) has set aside R80 million for the refurbishment and resuscitation of the country’s industrial parks. Speaking at an Industrial Parks Revitalisation workshop on Tuesday, dti Director General Lionel October said that industrial parks represent an opportunity for stimulating local economic development. He said that they further offered an opportunity for the influx of foreign investment and employment creation.

The Department of Energy will today host a status briefing on South Africa’s nuclear build programme. The media briefing, which will be held in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal, will be addressed by senior government officials as well as senior State Owned Entities (SoE) officials involved in the preparations for the nuclear new build programme. The briefing comes following the submission of the Inter-Government Framework Agreements on nuclear cooperation to Parliament.

The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) says it will on Tuesday start rolling out a teaching and learning programme which will create paperless classrooms to 375 high schools. The department said schools mainly in townships and rural areas have been selected to participate in the programme. The programme entails using interactive boards and mobile devices such as tablets and laptops with complete internet connectivity to conduct teaching and learning.
