  Etisalat Nigeria has announced call for entries for the 2014 Etisalat Pan-African Prize for Innovation. The Etisalat Pan-African Prize for Innovation introduced in 2012 rewards the most innovative mobile broadband product, idea or service that positively impacts on African mobile users and demonstrate a valuable socio economic benefit to customers.

Call for Proposals: Citizen Focused Frontline Service Delivery
The Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) invites all South African government departments/municipalities (national, provincial and local) and other institutions in partnership with a department/municipality to apply for funding under this call themed: Citizen Focused Frontline Service Delivery.

Applicants are required to submit a short concept note in response to this call. Should a private service provider and/or civil society organisations wish to participate, it must be done in partnership with a government department/municipality that will act as the lead applicant.

Voices Against Violence - Toolkits & Guidelines
"Voices against Violence" is a co-educational curriculum developed by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) and UN Women, with inputs from young people. Designed for various age groups ranging from 5 to 25 years, it provides young people with tools and expertise to understand the root causes of violence in their communities, to educate and involve their peers and communities to prevent such violence, and to learn about where to access support if violence is experienced.

South Africa: Operation Phakisa to Transform Public Clinics
The newly launched Operation Phakisa 2 is expected to transform all public sector clinics into Ideal Clinics which will provide good quality care to all communities. President Jacob Zuma launched Operation Phakisa 2: Scaling up Ideal Clinic Realisation and Maintenance Programme, on Tuesday. It is designed to fast-track the implementation of government priority programmes. In July, the President launched the first phase of Operation Phakisa which focuses on unlocking the economic potential of South Africa's oceans.

Uganda: Science Innovations Crucial for Post-MDG Development Agenda
African scientists have agreed to push for the continent to achieve the post-Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) agenda through advancing innovations. In a joint communiqué issued last Wednesday, at the closing of the three-day 10th Annual Meeting of African Science Academies (AMASA-10) at Lake Victoria Serena Resort hotel Kigo, the scientists said academies present opportunities for solidarity in technology and innovation for competitiveness, and ownership of the post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
